Are you inspired by our past? Are you fascinated by archaeology and its revelations of our history, the romance of ancient cultures, natural history, and science? Then you’re a geek like me, and you’re on the right page! Connect to our past by browsing my gallery of beautifully sculpted bas-reliefs and take some history home!
I am inspired by the natural beauty of leaves and flowers, and the hidden worlds of fossils and natural history.
I am especially inspired by ancient cultures, their art, and artists. From rock art and Native American petroglyphs to Roman mosaics, and silk art, I am amazed at the beauty created by ancient artists using ancient techniques and tools. Creating one of my pieces by carving plaster and using forms might take me 8 or so work hours. When I think about how long it took the original artist to create an image by carving it out of stone, I am humbled. Since we can’t take home ancient art, I choose to create pieces that history, science, and art lovers can display and enjoy.
If you are considering purchasing a print, the highs and lows of the bas relief turn out beautifully. Although a print is 2-dimensional, it captures the dimensions of the relief and translates into a stunning tromp l'oeil effect, making the print appear 3-dimensional when it's not.
